in the mail: YSL

I’ve recently recieved this little package in the mail, after I had entered my adress on the YSL-website. It contained two samples of their newest #getashock products, the Black Opium Floral Shock fragrance and the  The Shock mascara.

I’ve used the mascara a few times now and I really like it. It’s one of those mascaras I put on when I don’t know if I am going to take off my make up that night. It still looks great after sleeping which is awesome, you never know who you might wake up next to, so better be prepared ;). It makes my lashes appear long and very dark even after only one layer. I will reach for this, if I’m feeling a little glamorous, as it doesn’t really create a natural look.

The Floral Shock is the newest edition of their usual Black Opium fragrance. Apparently my grandma wears the classic Black Opium, which made me hesitate a little. Don’t wanna smell like a granny. But with the new flowery addition, the fragrance is very suited for younger people. It is still kind of heavy and maybe even obstrusive, but it smells really nice! As I’m only 19 years old, I would rather reach for something more light in scent, which doesn’t mean I won’t wear this.

Thank you to YSL for sending me those two samples!

I hope you guys liked this and maybe I could help someone with my honest oppinion about these products!

Let me know what you think of them, if you’ve tried them already. If not let me know if one of them interestes you!

school’s out, what’s next?

I’ll be graduating school this summer, finally! But what’s next? Studying? Finding a job? I am nowhere near beeing ready for the adult world, to be honest, and I don’t know what I want to do for a living. But what I do know is, that I want to travel!

My current plan is to go to Canada (did I mention that I love this country?) to work and earn money. After those few months I want to travel. I don’t know which country or even continent yet, but I would like to make this decision spontaneously. First, I wanted to make a roadtrip through the US but now I am more interested in Bali, New Zealand and Australia.

If you have any tips for me, where to go or even how to find the right thing to do, please let me know! I’m a lost girl in a world full of opportunities.

But first things first, let’s get those a-levels sorted (I should be studying right now)!

skincare favourites

My favourite skincare products are definetely these beautys. Some are used on a daily basis, some only when in need of a special treatment.

This the Cosmetic Lad facial cream by Lush. I’ve been using this almost everyday since I’ve got it last year and there is still so much product left. I say almost everyday, because when I walk to school I don’t really like using it as it makes me sweat when I enter the school building. I don’t know what it is, but I think you have to let that one really sink in into your skin, as it is really liquid. But I love it anyway!

This is my life saver! It his Kaufmanns Haut- und Kindercreme (skin and baby cream), a product I can not live without anymore. I always use it as a lipbalm, but its good for everything. It is really basic and smooth, as it is made especially for babys, and really easy to fit into your pocket or handbag. I don’t know if it is available outside of Germany, but if you can get hold if it, do!

Another facial cream by Lush, but this one is called Magical Moringa. I got this as a free sample with my other cream, as it was almost gone. I put this on once in a while before going to bed and it makes my skin go increadibly soft! It has more of a thick buttery texture, which makes it a little harder to apply, but once it is on it starts to melt into your face. My skin feels amazing after I’ve put this on and I think I will rebuy this cream instead of my other Lush one. Absolutely loving it!

If I feel like pampering myself, I will put on one of these before bed. A rose milk, an oil and an almond face cream, all by Weleda. The other one is a another body milk by Dr. Hauschka. These are all perfect for my dry skin! I wouldn’t use them everyday, just because I don’t like overcaring my skin. But once in a while they work perfectly good for me!

Hope you enjoyed this little wanna-be beauty post. At least I tried :). But as you might have noticed, I (almost) only use natural skincare. I just feel like it’s better for your skin to be putting on natural ingrediants. Let me know what your favourite brands are when it comes to skincare!

recipe: breakfast smoothie

I call this a breakfast smoothie because it makes you feel full and energetic and therefore it’s perfect to start the day.

What you need:

  • A banana (the riper, the better)
  • About a handful of frozen berries
  • A handful of oatmeal
  • 1-3 tps of chia seeds
  • 2 tps of almond butter (sugarfree)
  • Spinach
  • 0,5 ml water

What you do:

Throw all the ingrediants into your blender and blend until it’s smooth. Done!

I love this smoothie, because it makes you feel full for a long time! There are only healthy ingrediants in it and even though the colour looks a bit nasty it tastes delicious!

Let me know if you tried it and if so, what you think!

how to gain confidence: an experiment on oneself

I have never been very confident and over the last year it has been at a low. So, for 2017 I’ve decided to change that and take you guys with me. Let’s see how this is going.

Dancing: I love dancing in the club or anywhere, but I noticed that with other people around I could only enjoy it while drinking alcohol. I know it sounds stupid, but I just didn’t have the courage to dance without it. But this recently changed: I can now dance when I’m sober and I don’t care about what people think. I kind of zone out while dancing. One step to a confident self done!

About my body: I’ve always felt like that one chubby friend no one finds pretty. Even though I know that I’m not fat or anything, I don’t feel good about my body. To be honest, my sister is one skinny girl and it doesn’t matter how much she eats, she will not gain weight. Compared to her, I’ve always been bigger, had bigger boobs and more of a bum. This feeling got stuck in my head and has been there ever since. I’m really trying to feel confident about my body and I hope there will be some positive changes too.

Skills: One reason for my lack of confidence is probably that I don’t really have a talent. I like horse riding and I’m good with animals, but I’m often ashamed of how “bad” I am at those things. I have trouble with getting along with the horse I care for, because I get scared very easily. I have not ever been like this, it started a few years ago. If there is a difficult situation, I will get very anxious about what the horse is going to do and horses are very sensible, so they know if a human feels safe or not, and if not they’ll get anxious too. You guys probably don’t care about horses, but thats just an example. Even with the things I’m good at (like animals, especially horses) it dosn’t work. It is really hard to fix that, but I’m trying.

Advice for myself and for anybody who struggles the way I do:

  • Don’t compare yourself with others.
  • Eat good foods (but also eat what you’re feeling like eating) and get fit to feel confident with your body.
  • Wear whatever you want, because wearing a cute outfit makes you feel beautiful and that is exactly what you need to feel.
  • Don’t let your mood or your emotions depend on anyone! I had to learn that the hard way.
  • Concentrate on the good things in life. Try to write down every evening one good thing that happened or one good thought you had that day, so at night you will go to bed with this good thing in mind.

I’ll try to remember the advice I’ve given myself and keep you guys updated.

Last summer I spent one month doing a roadtrip through Canada. We started (my sister, a friend and I) in Calgary, Alberta. Next stop was Banff in the Rockies and then we drove on the “sea to sky highway” but the other way around, from sky to sea. We stopped in Whistler, took the ferry to Vancouver Island and drove all the way to the other end to Tofino. I have to say, Tofino stole my heart. It’s this beautiful surfer city with cute little shops and a rainforest that goes right to the beach. If you ever get the chance to see it, do it. It’s worth every minute. We also stayed in Vancouver and then went back to Fernie, which is in the Rockies. I love Fernie, because I’ve been there multiple times and it isn’t comparable to any city in Germany (at least what I’ve seen). We flew back to Germany from Calgary to Frankfurt and I’m really excited to be going back this year. I love Canada and especially Calgary with all my heart, because I’ve been there three times already and I’ve lived there for 3 months in 2014. It kind of feels like MY city when I remember me strolling around the skyscrapers, taking the train to work, feeling like I’ve lived there my whole life.

I’m going to tell you soon about my plans for this summer, don’t you even worry.

P.s. What are your favourite places? I’d love to know!

new year, new me. For real this time

A lot has happened since I’ve last been here. My personal life has changed a lot and that may or may not be in a good way. I’m now in my finale year of school and I’m also trying to become myself.

My year 2017 has really started on the 13th of february, which actually was a monday and I mean, monday the 13th, could it get any worse? I don’t know what it was, but I suddenly felt like I had to change something. Now I’m trying to find myself (cheesy, I know) while living 2017 as the best year of my life. I will be graduating at the end of june, so my life is going to start then. I’ll try to write this blog more regularly, because I really enjoy writing and I like having my experiences all together on one website.

Stay with me if you will and feel free to leave comments on anything you like. I would be happy to read from you guys.

I’ve recently noticed that I’m kind of in love with notebooks. I love to buy them, but never use them because they are too pretty to have my messy handwriting in it.

My favourite shops to get them from are definetely bookshops or Urban Outfitters, they’ve got great ones!

So here are some I couldn’t ignore in the store and I actually use two of them!

Hope you enjoy!

This one is my diary from odernichtoderdoch which I absolutely love! It’s got an awesome calender of 2016 where you can list your appointments, holidays or birthdays. It also has incredibly cute lists like “what I have to buy as christmas presents” or “places I want to visit this year”.

I got this for christmas last year and really try to use it as best as I can!

This is a little notebook I’ve bought from a local bookshop and I absolutely love the design! Even though it now looks kind of used, it still looks very nice!

I use it kind of like a happy moments book, so every night before I go to bed I think of one thing or one moment that made me happy that day and write it down. I’ve heard that it helps to be more postitiv and to enjoy the little things, which I kind of struggle with from time to time.

I bought this one back in 2014 when I lived in Canada for three months. On my flight a girls sat next to me and she was writing in an extremely beautiful diary with a leather cover, so when I saw this one in Urban Outfitters I had to get it, plus it was in the sale section!

I love that it comes with a pencil stuck to it, so you don’t have to always have one with you.

I think this one is my all time favourite and I don’t know if I can ever get over myself and use it.

When I was in Urban Outfitters in Germany once I spotted this beauty and fell in love! I love that it is like woven on the outside and the blue string to tie it up. Love it! And as I said, UO just have the best journals and notebooks you will ever find.
